HELP MOMO , THE BABY FOUND CRAWLING IN THE STREETS OF CAIRO !
He is the white stray dog in the streets of Cairo. His life is constant struggle : to find food , to find shelter , to protect him-self from other dogs , or in many cases from human cruelty.
His world is chaos. Yet he stands there , with his soft and docile eyes , looking right in your soul when you approach him. He tries to wag his tail but fails. He tries to stand up , fails again. Nonetheless ,the trust he kept for the humankind is exceptional.
Momo is different than the rest.
As he tries to walk , he falls again on his back. His struggle is too painful to even watch from afar. He is obligated to look for food , shelter and fight for his life with his disability.
This is how volunteers in Cairo noticed Momo and brought to ESMA shelter. Momo can not walk straight or run properly as other dogs would. His difficulty is restraining him from playing with others and is too painful to lead a normal life. Unfortunately for him , it is not possible to make a full diagnosis of his condition in Cairo due to the lack of proper imaging technology such as MRI.
It is impossible to treat his condition without proper diagnosis…
With the help of our friends at ESMA , we organized MOMOs trip from Cairo to our hospital. The very first hours in our hospital he had an epilepsy crisis that lasted almost one minute. He passed the afternoon sleeping , his exhausted body needed to recover what he had lost during the crisis. Our doctors also sent an ELISA test to determine whether he had distemper or not , a necessary step to eliminate the possibility to assess his condition better.
At the moment Momo is receiving supportive treatment for his nervous system and anaemic bloodcount at our hospital. We will need to send him for MRI as there is no fractures on his X-Rays which leads us to think his problem is rather neurological. This also means that Momo will need a lengthy and costly treatment which without your support , we are simply unable to provide.
There are no coincidences. Momo did not come all that way from the streets of Cairo for nothing , with your help and with the means of the latest methods in veterinarian medicine , he will not just survive , but THRIVE.
Please help us SAVE MOMO by contributing whatever you can for his treatment today.
Updates on Momo’s condition will be shared on our Facebook Page and privately to our contributors through e-mail system.
