EMERGENCY ! RUFUS WILL WALK AGAIN ONLY IF WE CAN HELP !!! THEY DUMPED HIM AFTER THEY KNEW HE WAS PARALYSED !!!
Rufus is a four-month old beautiful Dogo Argentino pup bearing all the hallmarks of his breed. Beautiful white coat , a muscular body and a wide skull , all qualities that made him very ” purchasable ”’ for his family who paid lots of cash to a local breeder.
Unfortunately their infatuation with Rufus disappeared as soon as they noticed his hind legs were growing weaker each day.
They brought him to a local shelter, saying he had been in an accident and now he couldn’t walk. They didn’t want to spend more money on vet bills, so Rufus was thrown away like a broken toy.
A shopping mistake.
The little pup was overly confused and extremely scared in the immediate moments after his family left him in the midst of dozens of other dogs. A shelter is not a good place for any dog but certainly not for a handicapped baby, who was just abandoned by the people he trusted the most.
Rufus should not be a mistake…
We couldn’t leave him there , the public shelter does not have any means to fix his legs. Without his mobility he would simply be a prey to other bigger dogs there. We had to step in. We transferred Rufus to our clinic.
Upon closer inspection, it became evident that the family had not been entirely truthful about the cause of Rufus’s inability to walk. X-ray scans showed no sign of tissue or bone trauma suggesting any accident. Rufus is now signed up for an MRI scan so our doctors will soon
have a better idea of his situation. But initial diagnostic tests show absolutely no musculoskeletal reasons for his situation.
It is impossible to say what is causing his paralysis without running more tests on Rufus, but whatever it is there is NO permanent damage to his back legs. He is also sensitive to touch: which means he has feeling in his legs.
If he could talk, he would probably say he has a tingling sensation or slight numbness in this area, which is MORE THAN our doctors need to know to say that Rufus will likely walk again, once the underlying condition is treated.
Rufus has no family or someone who could back him so he can get a second shot at life. Without our help , he would simply fade away. Please do not leave him alone once again…
