SAVE ROKKO : 6 YEARS OF ABANDONMENT
Rokko could be the saddest dog you ever met. At age of 6 , born as a stray in the streets , he survived to witness the darkest side of humanity. He has been hit by a drunk driver , survived. His front legs were broken , healed , broken again in another crash. Rokko survived again , in the streets. He never knew the warmth of a home , or a family.
Unprotected from the dangers of the world , he persevered alone , getting by with whatever he could find from garbage dumps. A life of misery , all alone with no one to take care of him or pet his head when he needed affection. A life of abandonment where Rokko declined every passing year.
His life was a slow but sure path that got closer to death every single day with malnourishment , being exposed to the elements ; rain , snow , wind or extreme heat in summer. He fought until one day he could not : ROKKO crushed semi conscious on the mud the other day , screaming all his might. The volunteer who found Rokko in that state did not know what to do witnessing the heart wrenching agony of poor Rokko…
She called us to request immediate help.
When Rokko came to our clinic he was covered with mud , she was staring into our eyes with a look to put us all in shame : in Rokko’s eyes we saw everything that went wrong with humanity. The apathy , the neglect , the selfishness , the ignorance and the incapacity to build empathy. As our doctor proceeded to take his X-rays , Rokko went into a shock.
There are few other things that hurt as much as waiting for a soul to wake up from an indefinite state of shock…
As Rokko’s burdened body shook in pain , we silently waited by his side , promising we would do everything in our power to help him if he woke up. Shortly after, he woke up , exhausted.
Rokko’s X-rays don’t show any fractures except for the older ones that healed in slightly wrong way. However his vertebrae appear to show some calcification , which may explain his sudden paralysis. A definite diagnosis will come after the tests however for now , our doctors focus on keeping Rokko stable enough to continue his treatment. He is receiving supportive treatment , IV feeding , antibiotics along with pain killers.
Rokko is fighting to stay with us , and to help him continue we need YOUR help. His emergency intervention has already costed more than hundreds and we must support him enough to stabilise his shaken body.
After he stabilises , our doctors will proceed to his possible operation.
After he gets through this terrible nightmare , we will find him the best home out there so he never faces the same horrors again ! Please contribute to Rokko’s medical expenses so he can survive !
